Harvard University is rejecting a list of demands made by President Donald Trump’s administration to change its practices or risk losing federal funding.
“Harvard is not prepared to agree to demands that go beyond the lawful authority of this or any administration,” attorneys for Harvard wrote in a letter to Trump administration officials.
The Trump administration demanded that Harvard eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programs, ban masks and take other steps, including making changes to programs and departments that “fuel antisemitic harassment.”
