Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently received a less-than-warm welcome while visiting a wildlife park in Texas.
In a video shared to Instagram on Monday by Johnson’s wife, Carrie Johnson, the politician can be seen sitting in the driver’s seat of a car while visiting what appears to be a drive-through wildlife park or safari. In the clip, Johnson and a toddler watch as an ostrich approaches the vehicle, saddling up to the open window.
The large bird, maybe feeling a little hangry, responds to the visitors’ curiosity by leaning in and giving the former prime minister a feisty peck on the hand.
“Oh, cripe!” he exclaims, pulling his hand back from the offending beak. The toddler giggles as Johnson grabs the steering wheel to flee the offending bird, throwing in an expletive on his way out.

Ostriches can weigh up to 300 pounds and stand over 7 feet tall. While generally not considered aggressive, they may attack humans if threatened or food is involved, according to theworldsrarestbirds.com.

While the exact location of the park in the video was not shared, several local reports and sightings placed the Johnson family in Texas. On Saturday, Granbury, Texas eatery Stumpy’s Lakeside Grill posted a photo of Johnson visiting for a meal. On Monday, Carrie Johnson shared an Instagram story from Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas.
Johnson, who served as prime minister from 2019 until 2022 before resigning due to growing party dissent, is somewhat known for being caught on camera in comical and ridiculous situations. Two oft-referenced incidents include a joke about O.J. Simpson made in front of cameras in 2021 while struggling to put a glove on, and another moment from the same year, he ended up wrestling with his umbrella during the unveiling of a police memorial in London.
Other times include when he got stuck on a zipline, when he asked a police officer if he had trouble controlling his K-9’s urge to hump people’s legs or when Johnson invoked Peppa Pig at a Confederation of British Industry conference.
